Why Tiny? Why Off-Grid? Just Why?

Off-grid tiny living
Honestly...? Why not! It's beautiful.

I sat in a large house in Wales a few years back – just a month before Covid struck in 2020 – and I made a huge decision.
I worked mostly in the arts – theatrical costume hire was a big part of my life. I wrote and directed plays. I had a home full of costumes, props, fabric, flight cases, books and many other ‘things’.
I loved my home and my life – but there comes a time for change and I could feel it.
I also started to feel that I wanted to be nearer my only child and his family. Being a grandparent changed my outlook too.
So, I decided I would sell my home, my business and shed loads of my stuff. I’d buy a tiny house and live a simple life.
The house was on the market the next day and two weeks later we were in the first covid lockdown. Oddly though, it gave me time to refine my very unrefined plan and start to sell costumes, books and ‘things’.
Offloading and decluttering was fantastic – I highly recommend it!

A New Life Beckons...

My lovely cluttered den of creativity

So… these blog posts chart my journey. Unfortunately, you won’t find them in any particular order, but please browse away.
I made the decision to go very fast, although change had been brewing for a while. I’m not a practical (and prepared) person – consequently, a lot of my learning happens ‘in the moment’!
This was drastic and exciting.
A challenge and a fine adventure!
This has been, and continues to be, an excellent decision and a great way of life.

Who Made Your Gorgeous Home?

I’m glad you asked!
Tiny Eco Homes UK – click on logo to go to their site and have a browse (not an affiliate link, but do mention my name if you get interested).
I went there because I liked the style and the look of their homes. I didn’t want a container-shaped home – I wanted a cottage-shaped home with pointy bits.
I also needed to feel I was in good hands (given I knew very little of what was in store).
A trip to the workshop somewhere in the Pennines near Bishop Auckland and a long consultation with Chris and Paola convinced me to go ahead.
